 Tours and Investigations

Ireland and it's Castles have been the subject of many paranormal investigations over the years. Here are a few photos of our travels there.

Kinnitty Castle - Kinnitty, County Tullamore, Ireland

Kinnitty Castle – On a spot once inhabited by Druids, bards and filidhe stands Kinnitty Castle, a spectacular Gothic Castle full of mysterious secrets. As you approach the Castle, you literally step into another world. In the magnificent Banqueting Hall, the "Phantom Monk of Kinnitty" has been seen on numerous occasions by staff and visitors alike, as he glides along the room. He usually stops to gaze out of a particular window looking onto a quaint courtyard. This is no silent Monk, he communicates with staff members and visitors from time to time. There is a Stone Circle out behind the Castle and a monastic cross on the property. Kinnitty Castle sits at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains.

Kinnitty Castle during the daylight hours - Equally if not more impressive than at night.

Richard Felix at the Stone Fire Circle

As recently as last yearAs recently as last year Halloween, we stayed at Kinnitty castle for a unique event, called Most Haunted, this was hosted by Richard Felix, the former historian on the wildly popular show of the same name. The event was held during All Hallows weekend at Kinnitty Castle. Some of the activitites included a Stone Fire Circle seance, Tours to Leap Castle, long known as The Bad Boy of Irelands Haunted Castles.

Leap Castle - Birr, County Tullamore, Ireland

Leap Castle - During the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries Normans and Irish lords began building a type of castle known as a tower-house, a single sturdy rectangular tower with four or five floors. Most are now in ruins condition, but the best well-preserved example is Leap Castle in Offaly's Mystic Triangle. Built facing the Great Pass through the Slieve Bloom Mountains to the province of Munster it has a massive tower and walls nine feet thick. Leap is famous for its many ghosts and spirits, as well as a foul smelling elemental creature, half human and half beast, reported to roam the lower regions of the Castle. Generations of terrified locals have reported meeting the ghostly beast.

Charleville Forest Castle - Tullamore, Ireland

Charleville Forest Castle - Surrounded by a 700 year old Oak forest, the oldest in Ireland, stands Charleville Castle, known for generations as one of the world's most haunted Castles. Legend states that Charleville was built on the site of an ancient Druid burial ground and it is said that Druids conducted ceremonies on this site. Charleville is a wonderful example of Gothic revivalist architecture. For decades Charleville has been visited by parapsychologists, paranormal investigators and documentary makers hoping to capture photographic or video evidence of the many phenomena reported throughout the years. Orbs (spectral light balls) are frequently seen in the building and the grounds. There are many different types of supernatural presences including the spirit of a young girl who fell to her death from a staircase banister. Built by Charles Bury the 1st Earl of Charleville, between 1798 and 1812. It is said that Bury was a devil-worshipper whose ghost still walks among the dungeons, catacombs and tower.
